Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12, 1988[1]) is a Canadian actress and singer. In 2005, O'Neil won the third season of Canadian Idol, the first Canadian female to have ever won. O'Neil is best known for her acting roles on Syfy as Two or Rebecca/ Portia Lin as well as on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was placed among the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. After being stunned, judges advised viewers to vote Melissa who was the most vocal contestant. O'Neil was acknowledged for her talent and she did not drop back to the bottom three. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the entire thing. On September 7, 2005, O'Neil was able to make it into the final two of the competition, along with Rex Goudie, and after yet more stunning performances, judge Werner famously announced that the headlines in the next day's newspaper would read "The King, Kalan Porter has died Long live the Queen." At the grand finale's results presentation on September 14, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to become the third Canadian Idol, as well as the first female winner and (at 17) the youngest winner in the show's history.
